NAE partners with the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology

The Nigerian Academy of Engineering has a strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology for the promotion of Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation (SETI). In this partnership, The Academy seeks to work closely with the ministry and its parastatals to promote research and the application of research findings.

The spotlight is on the successful launching of NIGCOMSAT 1R, a hybrid geostationary Satellite with a lifespan of 15 years and 40 transponders that will provide optimally and cost-effective voice, data, video, internet and applications services solutions.

It is a critical ICT backbone infrastructure to drive the National ICT revolution in providing revenue diversification for the nation and offering a cost-effective solution and affordable access to meet Nigeria's telecommunications, broadcast, aviation, defence and security needs.

The sitting Minister of Science and Technology is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering in the person of Engr. Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, FNSE, FNSChE, FAEng.
