Engineering Projects Archival Services
Introduction
The Engineering Projects Archival Services is a product conceived and developed by the Nigerian Academy of Engineering to provide structured storage services for documents generated from major engineering projects in Nigeria.
The objective of this initiative is for:
the Academy to take on the responsibility of collecting, collating, analysing and reporting on all infrastructure designs in the country, at the federal government level in the first instance and at state levels in the second.
The value of this service is that by so doing, the Academy will have an overview of all infrastructure projects and will thus be able to add value in a systemic way through analysis, evaluation and recommendations, which is at the core of its primary objective. By covering all infrastructures, all the diverse disciplines of fellows will be mobilised to add value. The value addition will be in the context of ongoing works and at the same time, serve as input for future works. It will be able to observe prevailing technologies and align them as may be required, identify skill gaps and promote best practices. It will also be an education and information database of infrastructure in the country.
The Service
The Academy will provide electronic storage services for major projects in the country. Each government entity that has a project will register with the Academy for the service and upload their project information on the Academy’s platform, which is safe and secure as an archival service. Such information will be kept in storage by the Academy, and at an appropriate time agreed with the client, the information may be made available for research, statistical analysis, and such other purposes as may be approved. An annual fee will be charged for this service.
