Engr. Akinsola Olusegun Faluyi was born on 13th November 1934. He attended Ibadan Boys High School and later studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Loughborough between 1953 and 1958. After graduation, he spent two years on industrial attachment with several leading Engineering Companies in Europe including a spell at Westminister Hospital, London, before returning to Nigeria to join the University College Hospital, Ibadan as Hospital Engineer in 1960.
In March 1962, he moved to Messrs Dunlop Nigeria Industries where he worked until May 1965 when he joined the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) as Chief Engineer. He retired from LUTH in 1975 to join Edison Group and Partners. Engr. Faluyi is an accomplished Hospital Engineer. The notable developments at Lagos University Teaching Hospital and its College of Medicine were undertaken during his tenure as Chief Engineer of the Institutions. For many years he served on the Council of the International Federation of Hospital Engineering and is a Past President of the Nigerian Association of Health Engineering. His intense interest in human resources development led to the formation of ATESS INSTITUTE, a firm of Human Resources and Development Consultants in 1985.
Engr. Faluyi has served in many capacities. He was a member of the National Commission for Right Hand Traffic 1970-1972, member of the National Committee on Road Safety 1972-1974, Member of the National Commission of Engineering Infrastructure, 1990, Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Professional Interview panel, (Mechanical Engineering and Allied Discipline Lagos) 1980-1990. Engr. Faluyi, who has also served as President of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), is a Foundation Fellow and a former President of the Academy.
